I started this project thinking I would likely get a mix of honest answers and spin back from companies whom I asked specific questions about where their products are made. So far I have had some great answers and feed back from two companies and one telling me they are looking into the answers.
What I did not expect was radio silence. I am amazed that I have heard nothing back from both large chains and from small local shops. It has been over a week since I sent a batch of emails and I am going to have to rethink how I go about this project. It was not my intent to name and shame – but it is starting to look like that is what I might have to do. I really hope that the bar does not have to be set at – will respond to basic questions about where their products are made. As consumers – we deserve to know.
The list of companies contacted who responded:
- Miz Mooz (responded immediately)
- Twiss and Weber (responded immediately)
- Marks Work Warehouse (looking into the issue)
The list of companies contacted who have not responded:
- Flock Boutique
- Joe Fresh
- Le Chateau
I will be sending out another batch of emails this week to another group of stores. Hopefully I will have more luck.
